Munzee & Fitbits

How do I get motivated to get out and get some exercise?

With my Munzee App and my FitBit tracker, of course. Oh and that amazing little dog that I have.

What is Munzee?

Munzee is a world-wide hunt for QR Barcodes placed anywhere and found via an App with GPS co-ordinates. Well, that's the basic premise. There are so many other parts to it that once you start playing, you want to get into more and more facets of the game. The App is free and works on both Android and iPhones.

Munzee syncs with other Apps, such as the Fitbit! So not only do you get to accomplish step goals, the encouragement of getting badges through Munzee can further motivate you. Munzee has a ton of badges and specials to collect which also satisfies my competitive nature.

5000  Points in One Day Badge

Since I started playing Munzee about 14 months ago, I have been getting out and about so much more. I have joined a clan which further encourages me to meet goals for each month. A clan is a group of 10 players competing against other clans and working as a team to achieve preset level goals which change every month.

10,000 Points in One Day Badge

Munzee players also come together to organize local events which means you can meet fellow local players and arrange outings together to collect more Munzees.

All the different kinds of Munzees I collected in one day.

Of course, these events last about 3 or more hours and involve a lot of walking so I always make sure to get extra sleep the day before, conserving my spoons.

Another App that I use that rewards me for being active is Carrot Rewards (Canada only). Carrot Rewards offers short quizzes and survey's in order to collect points towards rewards. I have mine set to give me Scene Points to work towards free movies. On top of the quizzes they send via the App, Carrot Rewards will set up a step goal for you to reach everyday. Every day that you hit that goal, you are rewarded with four points. Nothing like encouragement that gets you fun rewards.

Munzee is free and you only have to do as  much "hunting" as you are comfortable with. You do not have to join a clan. It is really urban centred so you can get out and walk around your neighbourhood and collect some. It's an activity that the whole family can take part in and enjoy and it is all self paced. Only participate in spoon filled days!
